Stefanos Foundation is deeply saddened by these reports.
The massacre in Bindi community of Riyom Local Government Area is highly unfortunate. 27 individuals including children killed in just one night despite several security alerts and prior attacks is highly questionable. Security agencies should have been on top of the matter. We call for immediate action in the area by government on all levels. Terrorists cannot move and act freely.
Although we commend the security forces for their advances in the past week especially the quick intervention in the Kogi kidnapping and call for more of such proactive efforts, attacks in 10 states in just one week is still a great course for concern. We urge the federal government and security chiefs to carry out their primary responsibility of ensuring peace. Kidnapped victims be released and killings halted. We also encourage state governments to partner with and strengthen local vigilantes networks in the fight against terrorism.
